BCIT Broadcast & Media Summer Camps
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to produce your own TV show or be an announcer on the radio? Are you a budding filmmaker who wants to create professional videos or be the next social media star? If so, then BCIT has a variety of Summer Camps for you! Take the time this summer to learn something remarkable. With the guidance of industry professionals, apply your creativity and step behind the scenes of the world of broadcast and media. All summer camps will include indoor and some outdoor activity.
The BCIT Broadcast Centre has been in operation for over 50 years and is pleased to offer summer programs tailored to 8-17 year olds.
Summer Camp Dates and TimesAll 2018 summer camps take place from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Each summer camp is five days long. After camp care is available from 3:30pm to 5:30pm for $60 per week.
Audio Arts & Entertainment (Ages: 8 to 12) - FULLYour voice can tell a great story and our pros can show you how to use it. Learn how announcers are trained to voice a range of media from commercials and cartoons to reporting for sports and entertainment. Run a sound board, hear yourself on the radio, experiment with mixing, and create fun sound effects.
- Camp A: July 9 – 13
TV & Video Production (Ages: 8 to 12)Get in front of the camera and go behind the scenes. Discover how a TV show comes together through hands-on experience. You will operate studio equipment, use green screen technology, shoot video, and report on exciting activities throughout the week.
This camp has two dates to choose from. Camp content is repeated each week.
- Camp B: July 9 – 13
- Camp C: July 16 – 20
Digital Filmmaking (Ages: 8 to 12 & 13 to 17) - FULLRoll camera, Roll sound, Mark, Set, Action! Your filmmaking experience is here. With access to BCIT’s green screen studio and other locations around campus, design cinematic visual compositions to get the right shots, lighting, and sound while making a music video. Explore both single camera and 360 videography.
Teens: Will also cover mobile photography and the ability to share your work through social media.
- Ages 8 to 12: Camp D: July 23 – 27
- Ages 13 to 17: Camp F: July 30 – Aug 3
Social Media Producer (Ages: 13 to 17) - NewStand out and create engaging video and photo content for social media. Enhance production value by learning professional techniques for cameras, mobile phones, lighting, visual composition, and editing specific to social media platforms. Ethical considerations for social media will also be covered.
- Camp E: July 16 – 20

Drop Off and Pick UpFree 30 minute parking will be provided in any non-reserved spot in parking Lot 7 during pick up and drop off times.
Summer camp participants requesting a refund more than 10 business days prior to the start of the summer camp are subject to a $45 administration fee. Summer camps are non-refundable if request to withdraw is given less than 10 business days prior to the camp start date.
