The Direct Entry Option is available for Sprott Shaw Graduates to apply for the second year of the following Diploma programs:
- Business Information Technology Management
- International Business Management
- International Business Management – Global Supply Chain Option
Note that each direct entry option will require 3 to 4 program specific bridging courses prior to placement into second year.
What are the requirements for the BCIT Direct Entry Option?
Business Information Technology Management
- English requirement: meet one of the following:
- English 12 (67% or higher)
- Successful completion of an equivalent English assessment test
- A minimum of 65% overall in an eligible Sprott Shaw program
- Completion of four bridging courses:
International Business Management
- English requirement: meet one of the following:
- English 12 (67% or higher)
- Successful completion of an equivalent English assessment test
- A minimum of 65% overall in an eligible Sprott Shaw program
- Completion of three bridging courses:
- OPMT 1197 – Statistics for Business
- TDMT 1150 – Transportation Systems (CITT)

BCIT Bachelor of Business Administration
Students are eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Business Administration after their BCIT Business Diploma. The BBA entrance requirements are on the BBA Program Entry page.
What is the best start date?
BCIT’s full-time Direct Entry Business Diplomas program commences in September, after Canadian Labour Day weekend. The bridging courses can be started at any time including during your Sprott Shaw Co-op. The courses are normally offered during the evening and weekends starting in January, April, and September. Please note all bridging courses must be completed before the full-time start date.There are no part-time study options available for Direct Entry programs.
When should I apply for BCIT?
Full-time applications open on October 1st for the following September. Provisional acceptance can be given after you have registered for the bridging courses and have completed half your Sprott Shaw College Diploma (approximately 6 months before graduation). Students will be responsible for signing up for the bridging courses through BCIT’s website prior to applying for the program. Seats in Direct Entry programs are limited and will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
