Optimization of cost, performance and environmental impacts
Sustainable building design and performance is a very wide concept with objectives to minimize depletion of critical resources like energy, water, and raw materials; prevent environmental degradation caused by facilities and infrastructure throughout their life cycle; and create built environments that are livable, comfortable, safe, and productive.
BSCE works towards high performance and sustainable buildings on the energy resource usage, durable building enclosure, cost effective retrofitting and safe and healthy indoor healthy environment.
In-house developed proprietary simulation tools such as HAMFit and HAMfitPlus are used to explore the hygrothermal performance of building enclosure and the whole building performance.
The whole Building performance Research laboratory (WBPRL) serves as a field investigation to conduct research on dynamic interactions between building envelope, indoor and outdoor environment and monitors the energy consumption, hygrothermal performance and the indoor air quality.
