How much does the Trades Pre-entry Test cost?

One test is $35.00, two or more tests cost $70.00.

 

Can I write the Trades Pre-entry Test at a location other than BCIT?

Yes. The Trades Pre-entry Test can be written at a location other that BCIT providing we are confident that all test conditions will be maintained. Typically you can use the services of your local college (additional fees may apply).

 

I am still in high school. Can I write the Trades Pre-entry Test to qualify for a program?

Yes. We often recommend that high school students write the Pre-entry Test as transcripts are often unavailable for the program application process.

 

What is the Pre-entry Test about? How long will it take?

All Pre-entry Tests are multiple-choice and together, take approximately four hours to complete.

Can I use a Pre-entry Test score from another school?

Usually not, unless it is the CAAT Level D test, and we are confident that all test conditions were maintained. Also, this test is not an indicator of equivalency and does not replace grade requirements. As such, your scores are not generally transferable to any other school or program.

 

What programs or courses can I use the Trades Pre-entry Test results for?

With a few exceptions, the Pre-entry Test is acceptable for all BCIT Trades and Apprenticeship courses. Consult the BCIT course catalogue for more information on specific program entrance requirements. Not all tests meet entrance requirements for all Trades and Apprenticeship programs. For example, some electronics programs don't accept the Trades Pre-entry Test's math component. Instead, you will need contact the Academic Services Math Department to write either a Grade 11 or Grade 12 High School Equivalency Exam.

 

Do I need to make an appointment to write the Trades Pre-entry Test?

If you are writing the test at BCIT you do not need to make an appointment.

If you are a high school student and would like to write a Pre-entry Test at your high school, you will need to make the necessary arrangements.

If you live outside of the lower mainland and would like to write a Pre-entry Test at a location outside of BCIT, you will need to make the necessary arrangements.

What happens if I don't pass everything?

You can rewrite the Pre-entry Test once at no additional cost. You must rewrite the Pre-entry Test no later than two months after the first test. Should you need it, the Test Centre staff will be available to help you.

 

I've lost my receipt, can I get another one?

Yes, just login to the secure student information system or myBCIT and print out another one.
