The Venture Program offers comprehensive training targeted toward individuals in the planning or early launch phase of a business start up. During this intensive 12 week program, you will learn how to assess opportunities, research a business concept, produce a realistic business plan, and develop practical entrepreneurial skills relevant to starting and operating a business.
The Venture Program introduces you to experienced, industry-proven practitioners who will instruct you in essential disciplines geared towards researching, planning and launching your business: business fundamentals, business plan development, market research, internet marketing/social networking, marketing plan development, financial management, selling, negotiation, goal setting, presentation skills, time and stress management, media relations, customer service, branding, networking, and more!
During the Venture program, you will learn how to improve your marketing focus, tighten your strategic plan, attract appropriate financing, minimize risk, build your resource base, and develop key contacts. You will gain valuable business modeling skills for forecasting and planning purposes. Ultimately, you will leave the program with a fully-operational business plan, the ability to run your own business and the skills to make it a success!

The Venture Program does not provide financing for entrepreneurs. However, it can help you contact organizations that finance small businesses. Also, you will leave the program with a fully developed business plan that will merit greater consideration from lending organizations.
A recent study that followed the progress of 138 out of 176 Venture Program graduates produced some impressive statistics:
These statistics are substantially higher than the national average for successful business ventures, which indicates that only 40% of new ventures are still operational 18 months after start up.
A Dunn and Bradstreet study showed that 60% of small businesses in Canada fail within the first 18 months, and that losses from failed businesses are estimated at $350,000 per business. The Venture Program provides training that can drastically improve an entrepreneur's chance for success by helping the entrepreneur think through the start up process before investing start up funds.
The first Venture Program class began in 1986.
