Overview

The advanced specialty certificate in Health Care Quality Management will prepare managers and health care professionals to plan, develop and implement successful continuous quality improvement/management programs in their organizations and health care regions. Graduates will enhance their health organizations ability to move into integrated delivery of quality health care services that are accountable to clients of the system, the government and the public.

The Program

The program goals of the certificate are to:

  • Manage and lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Design, organize and analyze information related to quality improvement, risk management and utilization.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to analyze problems and issues related to quality.
  • Determine appropriate personnel and structures to solve quality problems.
  • Facilitate organizational change.
  • Develop integrated systems for quality, utilization and risk management.
  • Develop accountability measures.
  • Design appropriate organizational structures and teams to implement quality solutions

On-line Program Delivery
The online program uses a variety of educational media to meet the needs of today's learner. Providing this type of flexible delivery enables you to interact with the instructor, course materials and other learners at a time that is convenient for you, your family and work schedules. It is designed to accommodate a geographically diverse student population and be national and international in scope.

Program Entry

Entrance requirements

  • English-language proficiency
  • A minimum of a two year diploma in a health profession or the Health Care Management Certificates, Level 1 and Level 2, or a health professional degree and two years experience in a health care setting.

Prospective students who have not yet taken a course in this online program must obtain Program Head approval before registering. To register for courses or request approval to register, please complete the steps listed in the Registration & Program Completion Checklist.

PLAR

BCIT believes that you should receive credit for what you have accomplished. BCIT has several options for assessing your prior learning and for granting transfer credit. If you qualify for one of these options and satisfy the program entrance requirements, contact the Program Head to discuss your prior learning. Please note that PLAR may not be available for certain courses.
