Considers the role of the clinician within the emerging field of e-health and telehealth applications. Also addresses the use of information systems and decision support software to minimize the risks related to clinical practice.

Explores an expanded definition of technology and identifies challenges in managing information technology in healthcare. Enables course participants to compare their own skills to the role of a senior information technology manager in healthcare, using a variety of self-assessment tools and job descriptions. Assists participants to select either the HI or HTM specialization within the Health Informatics Technology Management program.
