The Office Administrator with Technology program is designed to
provide learners with the advanced computer and business skills
required by administrative positions today. It is ideal for individuals
who do not have previous education or background in computing as well
as those who need to retrain or upgrade their present computer skills.
This program focuses on desktop applications, such as Microsoft Office,
Visio, and desktop publishing; website development and maintenance;
and, business courses, such as finances, accounting software, business
communication, and customer service.
The program consists of 3-months of classroom instruction,
Monday to Friday, from 9:00 until 4:00, followed by a 2-month full-time
work term. It combines technical and professional courses with hands-on
learning. Formal classroom instruction is complemented by realistic
business projects.
There will be no extended breaks except for statutory holidays.
Classes are held at the BCIT Downtown Campus (555 Seymour Street, Vancouver, BC).
For programs beginning in August 2007 or later which require Grade 12 Math and Science courses, BCIT will not require the applicant to write the provincial exam. Provincial exam marks will still be required for English 12, Communications 12, and Technical and Professional Communications 12.

Books and supplies
Tuition fees include all textbooks, course/lab materials and all prepaid vendor exam vouchers.
Financial assistance
Students accepted into the Office Administrator with Technology program may qualify for financial assistance that is available through the Government of BC's student financial aid program. For more information and to apply for this financial assistance, students should contact the BCIT Financial Aid and Awards office at (604) 432-8555.

Refund policy
If notice is submitted in writing and received by the Program Coordinator at least 12 working days prior to the first day of classes, all tuition fees paid (less the $1,500.00 deposit) will be refunded to the student.
If notice is submitted in writing and received by the Program Coordinator by 4:00 pm on the second day of class, all fees paid (less the $1,500.00 deposit and $1,500.00 penalty fee) will be refunded to the student.
There will be no refund of fees issued after the 2nd day of class.
Withdrawal for medical reasons: possible partial refund with doctor's medical note.
Cancellation Policy
This program is subject to limited and a minimum enrollment. Lack of sufficient enrollment will result in BCIT canceling specific intakes of the program and will then entitle all accepted students, of that specific intake, to a full refund of all fees paid.

Communication Skills
This course has been designed to assist students in the acquisition, application and development of professional skills, necessary to succeed in the information technology industry. Topics covered include, but are not limited to: interview skills, career planning, time management, team building and conflict resolution skills.
This course has been designed to assist students in the acquisition, application and development of business skills to function effectively in a technical support role. Topics covered include, but are not limited to: financial reporting, business writing, customer service, public speaking, and presentation skills.
This course has been designed to give students advanced skills in computer applications most commonly used in business. Topics covered include, but are not limited to: Microsoft Office, Visio, computerized accounting, desktop publishing, and Web site development.
This work practicum provides students with the opportunity to augment their classroom training and demonstrate learned analytical and technical skills in an IT related position. Students will acquire and further refine their skills through real-world work experiences and potential mentor relationships with work practicum employers. Students working in an administrative related position may be able to use their employment in lieu of a work practicum.

Attend and participate in all program activities
Write and pass all BCIT and vendor specific exams
Obtain the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification in two applications
