Part-time Management Certificate 6160mcert

Overview

This program is designed for those seeking employment in the Interior Design field.

The courses that you need to take to complete the Management Certificate is set out in the fast-track method so that you can complete in a year if starting the program in September. You may also start the program in January or April; however, it will take you just over a year to complete the program. Students not doing the fast-track method may take one to four courses at a time. The number of courses you take per term will determine how long it will take you to complete the program. Completing the courses in their order listed is ideal. Please make sure that you check prerequisites for each course.

Upon completion of the Management Certificate of Interior Design students wishing to proceed to the Interior Design Diploma of Technology must complete the bridging courses. Students intending on completing the Diploma on a full-time basis who wish to take level 3 or 4 courses prior to acceptance should contact the Program head for advice on course selection, as several courses share common assignments.

The 4 bridging courses are:

  • COMM 1120 - Technical Communication 1 for Interior Design
  • INTD 1360 - Computer Technology for Interior Design
  • INTD 2335 - AutoCAD for Interior Design 2
  • INTD 2340 - Interior Design Drafting 2

These courses may be taken during the Management Certificate if the prerequisites are met.

Program Entry

Program declaration

To determine if the courses you intend to take will be applied towards a credential you must declare your program. This ensures that BCIT is aware of your intent to complete the program as it is currently outlined.

Program declaration enables you to declare a program of study and outline the courses you plan to complete to meet the program requirements. Program declaration also provides the opportunity to apply for transfer credit. Upon approval, a confirmation letter will be mailed to you outlining your program of study.

To declare your program, please submit the Part-time Program Declaration form [PDF]. This form is also available at Student Information and Enrolment Services. Please allow approximately six to eight weeks for processing.
