The Motorcycle Mechanic Apprenticeship requires time spent learning on the job and in the classroom. The apprenticeship is four years in duration, including 6,100 workplace hours and 300 in-school hours of technical training which is comprised of two levels. After completion of training, a passing grade on exams with both BCIT and the Ministry of Advance Education will result in the B.C. Certificate of Apprenticeship, B.C. Certificate of Qualification, and the Inter-provincial Standard Endorsement, also known as Red Seal.
The program will include courses in servicing internal combustion engines, applying principles of lubrication, basic electrical systems, two and four cycle top end service, electrical systems, brake systems and wheels and tires.
Upon successful completion of BCIT's Motorcycle Technician Foundation program, students will qualify for credit towards all levels of technical training requirements in the provincial Apprenticeship program.
Do you have credits from another BC/Yukon post-secondary school? Do you want to know if they transfer to courses here at BCIT? Check out BCIT's Transfer Equivalency Database to find out.
