Do you communicate well and enjoy working with the public? Prepare for a challenging and exciting career as a Dental Receptionist in as little as 3 months part-time. Acquire the critical skills necessary to manage the day to day front desk procedures performed in a computerized and manual dental office.
Students will gain working knowledge in dental terminology, clinical procedures, billing procedures, insurance company protocol, fee guides, telephone skills and appointment scheduling. In this course the students will also explore areas such as patient charts and records, related accounting, business communication and marketing within the dental office.
Formal application to the Statement of Completion is not required as this is not an actual BCIT credential. Upon successful completion of the courses, a Statement of Completion will be issued.
To be successful in this program, you must be able to communicate at a BC Grade 12 English level. This line of work requires you to be detail-oriented, able to work well with the public and dental terminology requires the utmost accuracy in spelling. Students need to be Windows PC literate and able to manage files prior to starting COMP 0285. (COMP 1002 or equivalent knowledge)
