You’ve developed good content for your website and have a basic understanding of storytelling—but are you looking for more advanced techniques to boost your traffic and hold on to visitors longer?

This program of four courses, available also individually, builds on the basic skills offered in the Essentials of Website Storytelling program to give you the ability to tell high-level and professional-appearing stories through video, social media, and more to really engage your audience no matter what your business or organization offers.

If you hope to get the attention of your customers, clients, or future employers, one of the absolute best ways is by the age-old technique of good storytelling. Once you know how to develop, create, and publish great stories, you can use that knowledge in any area of business or personal goals to capture the attention of your audience.

Some students enroll in the program or in single courses at the request of their employer to sharpen existing web and storytelling—be sure to ask your employer if they offer tuition reimbursement for job-related training.

Program Entry

About Part-time Studies

Take a single course, or work towards a credential — all at a pace that's right for you.

Part-time courses are offered in a variety of scheduling formats, including at night or on weekends, flexible day time delivery, or you can opt for distance or online learning. If you meet the prerequisites and there's space available, you can register for a course immediately. Courses are offered in each of three terms: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring/Summer (April).

To be successful in BCIT's fast paced applied learning environment, it is strongly recommended that students have English proficiency in all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Two years of education in English in an English-speaking country and English 12 are strongly recommended for success. For information on English equivalencies, testing and upgrading options, visit:
Formal application to the Statement of Completion is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the Program Contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a Statement of Completion.

Program Details

By learning more advanced techniques of social media content marketing, multimedia storytelling, branding and interactivity, you’ll be developing a career-long skill for effective storytelling.

In this program, you’ll work closely with industry professionals to learn how to develop grabbing stories for almost any business or organization, draw visitors to your website, and use advanced techniques of lighting, videography, and audio to help you reach your goals.

Through this unique program, you’ll learn to:
  • Develop a WordPress blog and website
  • Use social media tools to build an audience
  • Choose an angle for a story and conduct research
  • Write a script to support interview clips
  • Set up camera, lighting, and audio for a video shoot
