BCIT Backpack Video Journalist
In this age of media convergence, are your skills as diverse as they could be? This group of six courses is designed to help media professionals broaden the scope of their multimedia knowledge. Take your strong writing skills and augment them with visual storytelling so you can repurpose your content in multiple formats. This collection of courses will provide you with the skills to compile a story – from conception through advanced shooting to final edit – entirely on your own.

Upon completion of the courses listed under the program matrix, you will be eligible to receive The Backpack Video Journalist Statement of Completion.

BCIT Backpack Video Journalist students learn to:
  • Find, research, and prepare visual stories
  • Write a broadcast-style script
  • Post and update a breaking news story online
  • Edit video footage into a compelling TV story
  • Operate a professional ENG video camera

Program Entry

Formal application to the Statement of Completion is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the Program Contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a Statement of Completion.
