From TV and radio to YouTube, technology has transformed modern media into a broad platform with near infinite opportunities for storytellers to get their message out to the world.

If you are interested in developing effective skills for performance, whether it’s for your personal video channel, for your current job in broadcasting, or even to help your business with unique promotions, this group of four courses gives you the essential skills to effectively write and perform an entertainment story with sound and video.

By studying with industry professionals, you’ll learn critical performance and interviewing skills and discover proper writing techniques for the media. This series of courses will offer you the tools to get your message out in style that will break through the clutter and get you noticed!

This program is designed specifically to give you professional development to build on your existing career in entertainment media or to enhance your skills with a personal project. Additionally, the course credits you earn can be transferred toward further personal and professional training in the other BCIT programs.

About Part-time Studies

Take a single course, or work towards a credential — all at a pace that's right for you.

Part-time courses are offered in a variety of scheduling formats, including at night or on weekends, flexible day time delivery, or you can opt for distance or online learning. If you meet the prerequisites and there's space available, you can register for a course immediately. Courses are offered in each of three terms: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring/Summer (April).

To be successful in BCIT's fast paced applied learning environment, it is strongly recommended that students have English proficiency in all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Two years of education in English in an English-speaking country and English 12 are strongly recommended for success. For information on English equivalencies, testing and upgrading options, visit:
Formal application to the Statement of Completion is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the Program Contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a Statement of Completion.

Program Details

In the Entertainment Media Performance Statement of Completion program, you’ll build the basic, essential skills you need for a variety of media through this group of four courses. By developing your understanding through the hands-on, practical learning BCIT is known for, you’ll be earning lifelong skills you can use immediately and apply to your personal projects as well as your professional endeavors.

In the Entertainment Media Performance program, you’ll learn to:
  • Clearly deliver a focused message
  • Convert written word into a live presentation
  • Conduct a media interview with confidence
  • Prepare scripts for announcing
  • Perform on-camera using a teleprompter
