VENT 1002 - Aboriginal Ventures Program

The BCIT Aboriginal Ventures Program is an entrepreneurial skills training program based on 15 years of delivering practical, need-to-know business planning skills and risk reduction techniques. The program offers comprehensive training targeted toward individuals in the planning and launch phase of a new business venture or community project. The program discusses specific challenges and opportunities that Aboriginals face doing business on and off reserve. Participants will gain the ability to research a business concept and produce an operational business or project plan, practical entrepreneurial/business skills to start and operate a business or business unit within an organization or community and valuable, easy-to-learn computer modelling skills for forecasting and analytical purposes. Prerequisites: Aboriginal ancestry, including Status, Non-status, Metis or Inuit, career preference to operate a business, technical skills and experience appropriate to the business/project that is planned, business concept or project in mind, basic computer skills.
