TMGT 7101 - Engineering, Technology and Management

The course provides candidates with a perspective on the experience needed to assume a role in management in a technology-based organization. It will include some basic tools and techniques for the manager. The course is focused on those individuals who possess a formal technical education and are contemplating moving into management, or those who are already working in management positions. This course will examine how technologists and engineers can make the often difficult move from a technical specialist role to manager. (1 Credit)

Note: This course forms part of the Bachelor of Technology in Technology Management degree program. You can proceed to register for this Virtual CLASSROOM course. Sessions run every second Saturday. Sessions will run Jan 7, Jan 21, Feb 4, Feb 18 and Mar 3. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:computer, access to Internet, cable, xDSL or faster. Dial up speeds may not be adequate for Power Point, VoIP conferencing and group presentations. MS Word, MS Excel and Power Point or equivalent, Web browser; Internet Explorer, FireFox or equivalent, Email client and an email address that can accept attachments. Access to a library, telephone conferencing or one of the many free or low cost VoIP conferencing services so your team can discuss material and possibly present remotely to other teams. A computer headset or VoIP phone will be required for computer conferencing. IMPORTANT COURSE MATERIAL INFORMATION: Your course material will no longer be available through the BCIT Bookstore.
