Course Overview
This course introduces the basic fundamentals of good photography with an emphasis on creative composition and lighting for digital photographers. This is accomplished through weekly slide shows, hands on photo assignments, and group critiques. Key technical topics include resolution, sizing, cropping, colour correction, raw conversion, digital retouching, and printing. Digital camera functions and other photographic equipment are discussed. Students must bring a digital camera and the camera's manual to the first class.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Identify and use the basic operations of a digital camera.
- Be aware of basic composition for digital photography.
- Be cognizant of the basic concepts of digital photo capture and output.
- Be able to recognise and identify key elements in successful photographs.
- Be able to integrate key technical and artistic elements into their own photography.
- Preview of fundamental business and legal issues as they apply to photography.
