Students will learn about the basics of green roofs, definitions of the different types of green roof systems and materials, appropriate vegetation for intensive, semi-intensive and extensive green roofs. Course content will provide students with the knowledge of a benefit analysis of green roofs through a case study method. The format will be 2 hours lecture and 2 hours workshop, students will tour the dedicated Green Roof Research Facility at the Centre for Architectural Ecology to review products and to mock up a green roof assembly.
