Global Business Environment provides a comprehensive overview of key aspects of global business in the 21st century. Topics include: the global business environment and your country's place in the world; key characteristics of new global traders and new core competencies that are relatively unique to the future of global trade, such as culture, ethics, technology, supply chains and trade in services; and an introduction to planning your global business strategy. International trade research enables companies to identify and gather the information they need to make effective decisions about when to engage in international trade and which markets will be the most profitable. This course explains the importance of research in the success of all international trade ventures, including exporting, importing and foreign direct investments. Topics include: using research to develop intelligence about international markets and competing organizations; planning and implementing research; finding effective information sources; and managing research information in an organization. Financing plays an essential role in international trade. International Trade Finance will take you through complex ventures and will show you how to secure financing. Topics covered include: the financing presentation; risk analysis and management; export costing and transaction viability; short-, medium- and long term financing options; export credit insurance; and cash flow planning. Students will learn how to make proposals for presentation to financing sources which will satisfy the basic needs of a company's export/import operations and/or to finance international trade projects. Global supply chain management enables companies to manage the flow of goods, information and finances among international trade networks in the most efficient manner. This course explains the importance of supply chain management in the success of all international trade ventures, including the exporting and importing of raw materials and finished products. Topics covered include: standard trade documentation and Incoterms; managing production, inventory and returns efficiently and cost effectively; and methods to enhance performance and reduce supply chain risk. When starting an international trade venture, companies select a target market and develop a marketing strategy that they think will encourage their target customers to buy. For the best chance of success, a company must first use the most effective way of getting its product or service into its target markets. This course discusses a variety of international market strategies including: exporting directly or indirectly, selling franchises or licenses, forming a strategic alliance, acquiring a company, and investing directly or indirectly in a foreign market. Students will learn about the research and planning process involved in choosing market entry strategies that fit most effectively with a company's strategic goals.
