Continuing from COMP 1630, students who already understand RBDMS theory, data modelling and SQL programming are provided with an in-depth understanding of designing, implementing and fine-tuning Microsoft SQL 2000 Server databases. Topics include: architecture overview, advanced queries and views, tutorial on SQL Server utilities, transactions, optimization and monitoring performance.There will be emphasis on Transact-SQL, and students will be given advanced topics and exercises on functions (both built in and user defined), cursors, stored procedures, and triggers.This course helps prepare the MS Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) and an elective for the MCSE (Exam# 70-229).
