Course Details

For Construction Safety Officers who require renewal of their certificate. This is the open book final exam given to our CNST 1100 students. The minimum passing grade is 75% for a BCIT Statement of Completion to be issued.

Prerequisite(s)

Proof of previous certification as a CSO, a letter from employers to prove a minimum of twelve months combined experience as a CSO within the previous three years and six months of that time must have been accumulated over the previous eighteen calendar months.

Notes

  1. This open book challenge exam is for Construction Safety Officers who require renewal of their certificate. Only one attempt to challenge this exam is allowed. Passing grade is 75%. Successful students will be issued a BCIT Statement of Completion for CNST 0101: Construction Safety Coordinator Recertification which is recognized by the ASTTBC. Students must bring original expiring certificates to the examination, government issued photo ID and a letter or letter to confirm 12 months of combined time working as a CSO in the last three years with six months of it within the last 18 calendar months. The challenging students must bring their own current copy of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and the Worker's Compensation Act which are available at the BCIT bookstore. Go to www.bcit.ca/bookstore for bookstore location, hours and costs. Also, a printed copy of the OH&S Guidelines will be provided for the exam. They can be downloaded from the Worksafe website at www2.worksafebc.com/Publications/OHSRegulation/Guidelines.asp/ReportID=33024 for study purposes .
