As the ‘social’ part of ‘social media’ would suggest, so much of being successful in the digital space is about engaging and building communities. In this course students construct a StoryWorld around cross-platform storytelling endeavours, whether for personal branding, business or a project. This will include utilizing WordPress to build a professional website, social media engagement, niche audience building, creating a digital storytelling campaign, and developing a long term strategy for continued community engagement.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Identify unique methods of sharing his/her voice in a creative or business endeavour.
Describe how storytelling can be used across media platforms to build brand imagery and loyalty.
Formulate goals to be achieved through cross-platform storytelling.
Identify the story that will help reach his/her goals.
Develop a professional WordPress site.
Explore ways to drive more viewers to a site and improve a site’s SEO.
Identify the target audience.
Locate a desired audience in niche digital communities, through social media, and on blogs.
Engage a desired audience in the digital space.
Build a StoryWorld around a site and stories, social media, and a desired community.
Creatively interact in real time with a target audience through real time storytelling.
Discuss how storytelling campaigns – including email, real-time storytelling, and Crowdfunding – can be used to drive an audience to take action.
Analyze statistics of a variety of campaigns, including email, real time storytelling, and Crowdfunding.
