Inquiries should be addressed to Service Canada (1-800-935-5555), not BCIT Student Employment Services. Before a department can make any hiring commitments to a student under this program, prior authorization to hire the student MUST first be obtained from the bargaining unit under which the student will fall.
- For positions falling under the BCGEU Support Staff's jurisdiction, please contact Richard Schaeffer, BCGEU Support Staff Bargaining Unit Chair, to obtain authorization to hire a student.
- For positions falling under the Faculty & Staff Association's jurisdiction, please contact FSA_Appointments@bcit.ca to obtain authorization to hire a student.
- If you are uncertain as to which bargaining unit's jurisdiction the position falls, or if you require further information on the authorization process, please contact Christie Macdonald, Labour Relations Consultant (604-451-6857) for assistance.
