Occupational Health and Safety promotes and enhances the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programs within BCIT and is a reflection of BCIT's existing health and safety policy to provide a healthy and safe work environment for employees and students.

Occupational Health and Safety is a resource for all members of the BCIT community on matters concerning health and safety.  Occupational Health and Safety is the liaison between BCIT supervisors and external agencies to provide current information required to remain compliant with the appropriate legislation.

  • Coordination of Accident Investigations
  • WHMIS / Chemical Safety / Waste 
  • Investigation of air-quality concerns

  • Assist departments with safe work procedure development
  • Acting as a resource for Health and Safety concerns

Health & Safety Newsletter

Health & Safety newsletters are created and distributed monthly and contain first aid statistics, compliance concerns, updates of new legislation and interest articles.

Print copies of the Health & Safety Newsletter are available at the Safety & Security office at the North end of SW01.

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is committed to conducting all activities in a manner that will ensure the health and safety of all employees, students and visitors. Every person, visiting or working at BCIT, is expected to maintain high standards of safety and follow all Occupational Health and Safety regulations, BCIT policies and procedures, and legislative standards as they apply to the Institute.
