BCIT's Safety, Security and Emergency Management Department works diligently to ensure the safety and security of all members of the BCIT community, providing services and tools such as Saferwalks, blue emergency telephones, occupational health, first aid and emergency preparedness. Safety and security is everybody's responsibility, and we encourage students, employees and visitors to make themselves aware of the services we provide, and to speak to a member of the security team should you have any concerns. In addition, if you are in distress, please consider speaking to someone you trust. BCIT provides counselling services to both students
and staff.
We know that we live in an unpredictable world, and the best we can do is be as prepared as possible. We want to provide advice to the community which can be of help during an emergency situation, and we have posted some information that will help should a hostile person enter and threaten one of our campuses. While every incident is different and could require a unique response from BCIT and the appropriate authorities, we hope that as we all become better-prepared, we can help each other during times of crisis.
