Policies and Procedures

BCIT Recreation reserves the right to refuse services and access based on violation of policies, inappropriate conduct or failing to follow the directions of the on-duty Recreation Service Coordinator or Assistant.

Participants engaging in inappropriate behavior or not complying with BCIT Recreation Policies may receive the following sanctions: warning, temporary suspension or revocation of privileges.

All BCIT students, staff and public members must be able to present their BCIT ID upon request by any BCIT official.

Scan & Go Policy

BCIT Recreation Services requires every student and employee to scan his/her valid BCIT ID card to gain access to the recreation facilities. Public members are required to scan their membership card.

Drop-In Sports Policies, Procedure and Code of Conduct

Drop-in Sports provides an opportunity for casual sports play for participants of all abilities. Cooperation and a welcoming environment is encouraged in the gymnasium. If participants would like to teach, coach, instruct, drill, train or not allow other participants to join their court or playing area, a block booking fee is mandatory to reserve the space for private use.

How to Participate

Drop-in Sports are open to anyone: BCIT students, employees, alumni and the public. Players of all skill levels are welcome. Whether you have experience or are a beginner, you can participate in one of our many offerings. There is a Drop-in Sports fee for all participants. If you teach, coach, instruct, drill, train or want exclusive use of the court or playing area, a $30.00 block fee is also required.

How to Participate

Squash and Racquetball courts are open to anyone: BCIT students, employees, alumni and the public. Players of all skill levels are welcome. Whether you have experience or are a beginner, you can participate. There is a court rental fee to book the space and time.

Class refund policy

If a class cancellation by the participant is made more than five business days (M–F) prior to a class start date, a full refund (less a 15% administration fee per course) will be issued before the class start date.

If a class cancellation by the participant is made five or fewer business days (M–F) prior to the class start date, consideration will be given if the following is provided:

Class transfers

Class transfers will be considered by administration and will be based on course minimum registration requirements. A $5 transfer fee will apply.
