Our pride and joy at the Burnaby Campus is our weight room. Besides a complete free weight area it has a full line up of apex gym equipment, more than 25 electronic cardio stations as well as a stretching area. If you want a complete work out this is the place to be and it's FREE for BCIT students and staff.

Weight room programs

Weight training introduction

This course will introduce you to the basic theory and principals of exercise weight training. You will learn some of the basic tools needed to develop a fitness program and reach your specific goals and take a tour of the weight room to learn how to safely use the equipment.

Fitness testing

If you are in peak form or new to a structured exercise program this fitness test will benefit you. One of our certified personal trainers will test your cardiovascular condition, strength, and flexibility levels. The results, along with body measurements and body composition, are analyzed to give you a good indication of your overall physical fitness. This assessment will be beneficial to set your future fitness goals.

About our personal trainers

Our trainers are fully certified and registered with the BC Parks and Recreation Association. They are experienced in dealing with beginner, post rehabilitation, and sport specific training.

One trainer / one participant

BCIT's certified personal trainers will design a fitness program specifically for you based on your individual profile. Along with providing a personalized fitness routine, your trainer will offer motivational techniques, nutritional information, and guidance in goal setting. In addition, workout logs are used to evaluate your program performance and make necessary changes to impact the overall results of your routine.

One trainer / two+ participants

Studies have shown that people who work out with a friend are more likely to stay with an exercise program. At a lower cost than if you trained by yourself you can share an action packed, fun-filled, and results-oriented training session.
