Student EmploymentOnce your son or daughter is enrolled at BCIT, be sure he or she registers for eJobs, BCIT's web-based job posting system, to learn what skills and qualifications employers are seeking in graduates. They will have access to on and off-campus, part-time, summer, and full-time, employment opportunities. A Work Search Coach at BCIT can help with advice in revising their resume, preparing for interviews, or finding answers to job search questions. Help them understand it's best to take advantage of these services throughout their time at BCIT, rather than waiting until they graduate. The cheering sectionAs mentioned above, BCIT programs are demanding and require students to dedicate a substantial amount of time to their studies. Support and encouragement from friends and family members is invaluable and greatly appreciated by students. Your child’s well-beingBCIT has a myriad of services to ensure your child is safe, supported and healthy. Some key services that might be of interest to you: Housing - BCIT’s on-campus housing is located on the Burnaby Campus, adjacent to the sports field and campus recreation facilities. We also offer, in partnership with the My Ideal Home Network, comprehensive listings of off-campus accommodation including support for short-stay and apprenticeship and international students. Learning Commons – is a large collaborative learning space on the third floor of the Library is a great place to study. It's wireless with lots of electrical plug-ins. Counselling - Counselling and Student Development’s professional counsellors are available to discuss any personal, career, and educational concerns that may arise during a students time at BCIT. Health Services - BCIT's Medical Services offers a walk-in medical office staffed by physicians and nurses. Students also have access to a physiotherapy, and psychiatry through the Medical Services Department. Safety and Security - BCIT’s Safety and Security office is proactive and committed to promoting a safe and secure environment. Although all services offered by safety and security contribute to the protection of our students, it will be comfort to know we offer a safe walk program, have emergency phones located throughout the campus and are a provincial leader in the area of emergency preparedness. |
