BCIT faculty and staff: underneath that professional exterior of yours lies a superhero. You know it. We know it. You work day after day, week after week, on your own and as part of your team to make BCIT the best it can be.

You may not squeeze into a phone booth to change, nor leap tall buildings in a single bound. But you use your knowledge and skills here every day for the greater good.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2009, you honed your powers and gained new ones at BCIT's (Superhero) Professional Development Day.

Which Superhero are You?

Thanks to all of you who entered the 'Which superhero are you?' contest to win one of three $100 gift cards to Metropolis Metrotown. More than 100 of you revealed your alter ego, and the lucky winners (random draw) are:

• Peter Fenrich: Frank-N-Furter (Rocky Horror Picture Show), the ability to "stay sane inside of insanity."
• Rosamaria Fong: Darkwing Duck, average citizen by day, superhero by night.
• Kellie Hohlachoff: Super CSR, providing super customer service to all.

About PD Day

BCIT’s all-staff Professional Development Day is a full-day event, held on the last Wednesday in February. Staff choose from more than 60 sessions, organized into several learning themes. The day features a keynote speaker, a lunch session, and varying exhibits. The purpose of PD Day is to build a learning community – an opportunity for staff to learn, mingle, gain a fresh perspective, and rejuvenate.
