learn more
Being a doctor or a nurse might come to mind when you think about a career in health care, but there’s so much more. Health sciences is a broad field that encompasses health protection, diagnosis, treatment and therapy, and management. Within the field of health sciences there are professionals dedicated to preventing disease and accidents, practitioners contributing to successful medical treatments and managers keeping things on-track.
If you pursue career training in this field you will gain knowledge of the human body and its functions, and how to protect it, examine it, care for it and heal it. You will learn how to develop systems that prevent diseases and injuries in our communities and workplaces. You will also learn how to use advanced scientific knowledge and technology to diagnose and treat disease and injuries that weren’t prevented.
Some of the skills you will develop include: caring for and communicating with patients and their families, using technology to conduct tests, performing analyses, administering treatment plans, monitoring and managing sophisticated technical equipment, and working with others to solve problems.
