On December 2, Brody Murfin, a Computer Information Systems Administration student, took top prize in the Cisco NetRiders Challenge. The four-hour competition, pitting him against other finalists from across the US and Canada, tests students' networking and IT skills through a series of online exams and simulation activities (using Cisco Packet Tracer) that cover CCNA material. Each year, over 10,000 Cisco Networking Academy students compete in NetRiders events in more than 80 countries across the globe.

Like many young adults, Justin Hollander wasn’t totally sure what he wanted to be when he grew up. After high school, he worked in a number of hospitality jobs while figuring out a plan for the future. Several of the local digital media schools and programs were represented, including BCIT, Emily Carr, SFU, UBC and Masters of Digital Media, as well as a few local studios including United Front Games and Propaganda Entertainment.

Cisco Systems is the world’s largest supplier of routing and switching gear for the Internet, enterprise networks, and carrier grade networks. BCIT in partnership with Cisco Systems offers Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) training. The standardized curriculum provided through Cisco Networking Academy contains both simulator exercises and hands-on activities with the Cisco equipment.
