Vancouver 2010 Canada Smart Grid Research Network Workshop

The first workshop for the Canada Smart Grid Research Network was held in Vancouver BC, Canada on Friday July 23, 2010. Over 100 experts actively engaged in Smart Grid related research projects from Canada, the United States, and other countries attended the workshop.

Workshop objectives

  1. Provide a forum for Canada's research community (academia, industry and government) to discuss results of research and current smart grid projects.
  2. Increase awareness among Canadian federal and provincial funding agencies concerning smart grid research gaps and demonstration projects in Canada.
  3. Identify priority R&D topics and opportunities to enhance international collaboration.

Workshop themes

  1. Need for innovation in smart grid technologies and systems for the integration of renewable and distributed energy resources.
  2. Current and future Canadian smart grid research objectives, activities and roadmaps.
  3. Required resources, support and collaboration for smart grid research in Canada.
