Developing the course materials for the four-year Wall & Ceiling (Drywall) apprenticeship program was something I looked forward to doing for some time. I felt that I had enough practical, theoretical, and teaching experience to take on this new challenge. Working with the people in the Learning and Teaching Centre was great. When they gave me back my first completed topic it looked so professional that I had to read the information to make sure it was my work. Know what the LTC was capable of doing made my job much easier. I gave them the information and they gave it the professional touch.

What I liked most about working with the technical writers (in the LTC) was the way they were able to grasp the material I was trying to get across.

As I was ruminating on my second real teaching night, I flashed back to the critiques offered in my ISW. They were the best part: no intimidation, but valuable feedback that resonates. I heartedly endorse the ISW—it was the beginning of my confidence building. I really can’t say enough about the combination of theory and practice that you offered me.

One of the major requirements for Fish, Wildlife, and Recreation students is the completion of a digital editing project, and this simply wouldn’t be possible without the great help we receive from the MediaWorks staff. Their involvement enables our students to produce a wonderful end product, and the project itself has proven to be a very positive learning exercise for all involved. The entire MediaWorks crew has gone to great lengths to help us, and on behalf of our staff and students, I wanted to recognize their great contribution to our program.

I have used MediaWorks’ services for laminating and sign creation, and I have also used the self-serve workstations to scan photo slides into images that can be easily used in Power-Point presentations. I have found the staff at MediaWorks to be most helpful and courteous. The work they have done for me was completed in a timely and professional manner. Furthermore, the equipment available for use in the centre is up-to-date and very well maintained, making its use easy and enjoyable.

Before MediaWorks my classroom presentations were a C-, after finding out about MediaWorks my classroom presentations have gone to an A. The staff at MediaWorks showed me how to scan diagrams and import them into PowerPoint; how to take digital pictures of x-rays and import them into PowerPoint; and best of all, how to make short video clips for my PowerPoint presentations. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and very helpful; they provided assistance as needed but gave enough space to be creative. I highly recommend a visit to MediaWorks.

Through MediaWorks students gain valuable skills in technology and practice the interpersonal communication skills needed to work with professionals and consultants. In addition they learn project skills like time management, visual communication, and creating an effective message for a given audience.

Making the “Teams that Work” video was, overall, an enjoyable process. While it was a lot more work than I had anticipated, the AV production crew was very helpful, and I couldn’t have done it without them. During the shoot they had good ideas that helped make the finished product more useful and professional looking. I’m delighted to have the video to use as an instructional tool when I facilitate post-secondary institutions around the province. It’s one thing to talk about teamwork; it’s another to show teams in action!

For the past three years LTC Video Production has filmed and produced the video for our annual Residence Rally/Res Olympics. They have done an excellent video for us every year. They understand the target audience well and the end product is always just what we want: snappy, professional, fun, and well priced!

Thank you very much for your help and for the speed with which it came. I am very grateful and impressed with your student help services. I went into the online course enthusiastically but sceptically. I have a B.Ed., and I’ve taken a distance education course…still, I had my doubts. But the experience was, to my mind, one of the best class/student experiences of my life. The grading was so thorough and responses to questions were immediate and generous of spirit and in content. I am a walking advertisement for online learning with BCIT.
