Awards

The LTC has earned recognition both internally and externally for the services and resources we provide. LTC staff are invited to present at conferences, lead workshops, facilitate group meetings, and demonstrate their work. We've also been nominated for or have been the recipient of awards acknowledging the quality of our work.

Association for Media and Technology in Canada - June 2006

Members of BCIT’s Learning and Teaching Centre (LTC) have had their work nationally recognized at the recent Association for Media and Technology in Education in Canada (AMTEC) Media Festival Awards.

AMTEC is a community of educators, media producers, researchers, librarians and other professional staff who work to improve learning in all sectors of education through the application and integration of educational technology.

LTC’s winners this year were:

WebCT Course Exemplar Award

Awarded to Diane Belyk, BCIT Nursing Faculty, Bryan Fair, Technical Advisor, and Michelle Kearns, Instructional development Consultant. Diane Belyk received a WebCT Course Exemplar Award in May 2000 for her online course in Clinical Pharmacology. Belyk's course was showcased at a WebCT conference in Georgia. Belyk, Kearns, and Fair were interviewed and videotaped in preparation for the conference event.

Honourable Mention—1999 Canadian Association of Distance Education Conference

Bryan Fair, Technical Advisor in the LTC, received an Honourable Mention at the 1999 Canadian Association of Distance Education Conference for his work in developing an online tutorial on the use of WebCT. The quality of this tutorial has been recognized by educational institutions in Canada, the United States, and Great Britain, all of who have requested permission to use the tutorial with their own faculty and staff.
