The Royal Canadian Legion and UBC Veterans' Transition Program is a group-based program designed to assist former members of the Canadian Forces and the RCMP in their transition to life as a civilian. It provides information and teaches skills to participants who are attempting to better understand their military experience and its impact upon their lives. It also provides participants with the opportunity to engage in action-based ways of dealing with disturbing events from their lives, in or outside of the military. Dr. Marv Westwood and Dr. Dave Kuhl from UBC lead the Vancouver area group-based program. The Legion Military Skills Conversion Program volunteers receive training from Veterans' Transition Program staff to better understand some of the difficulties a veteran may have post-deployment.
