BCIT's IT Services maintains over 250 unique software applications to support the learning environment at BCIT. All software applications are installed at the request of an instructor. If you require an application that is not available, discuss with your instructor.
Software is installed and configured three times a year — once for the fall (September) term, winter (January) term and again for the spring (March) term.
If you can't find the required software already installed in a lab, the instructions on Submitting Lab Software Requests give you all the information you need to make a lab software request. To ensure that the software you need is installed when your class starts, please review the cutoff deadlines.
IT Services maintains a small number of site licences. Details of software licensing for BCIT staff and BCIT students are available in the BCIT Knowledge Base.
Outside of these campus-wide site licences, all licensing of lab software is the responsibility of the department using the software. Instructors requesting software additions for the labs must provide records to IT Services that prove sufficient licensing before the product will be installed.
There are two types of software that will not be installed in the labs:
If you require software from Adobe, please follow the ordering process that BCIT's IT Services staff have negotiated with this vendor as part of a contractual licence program.
