Client Services
The Client Services team provides the highest quality technology-based services and support to enable teaching, learning, and administrative functions.
Objectives
- To provide support to 165 computer labs on 5 campuses including new lab development, hardware & software upgrades, specialized teaching labs, faculty & student support covering daytime, evening and weekend classroom hours.
- To provide training for faculty and students in the use of campus computer labs; maintenance of lab policies and procedures
- To manage software licensing for over 200 software programs
- To provide physical and logical security for the Micro Labs including ID management for lab networks and Internet access
- To provide support BCIT ID card printing; campus laptop connections (wired & wireless); share-in/out assignment repository
- To conduct analysis and recommendation of major software, hardware and / or architecture components required to satisfy BCIT’s demands for information resource management, administrative and academic software applications, and business process improvement initiatives
- To provide supervision of student technology assistants who provide evening and weekend coverage for the computer labs
- To provide an efficient multi-level support infrastructure, including tracking, dispatching, and resourcing all client work requests
- To provide a consistent point of contact by phone, by e-mail, on the web, and in person for our clients dealing with technology issues
- To plan and execute the maintenance of the Institute’s desktop computing equipment through perpetual rollout and administration of leased technology equipment.
- To manage all repairs of campus computing equipment
- To provide desktop hardware/software support for faculty and support staff
- To enable appropriate system access for students, faculty, and staff
- To support the Institute’s Purchasing process by reviewing all Institute computer related purchases for adherence to standards established by IT Services
- To establish and maintain productive and effective relationships with BCIT’s vendors of computing technology
- To give customer satisfaction through timely attention to customer needs
- Advise faculty and administration regarding technology opportunities and their potential benefit to the Institute
