BCIT’s in-house Auxiliary Support Services looks for high calibre, dynamic and flexible individuals who have the skills and ability to work within the institute in a variety of temporary assignments. The work may include material handling, labourer, tool room attendant, general maintenance and custodial, mechanical and first aid attendant.Serving our workforce at our main campus and four satellite campuses, placements may vary from a few hours to many months in duration. Work assignments vary in complexity and initiative and all offer variety in terms of challenge and value.
Qualifications
Requirements:Flexibility and adaptability are crucial to being successful in a temporary role. We provide support where employees are absent due to sick leave, vacation, on training courses or to assist with heavy workloads. Due to the varying demand for services, there may be breaks between assignments. We, therefore, cannot guarantee on-going employment.
- Grade 12 plus courses in inventory systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Two years of general work experience plus one year of experience in environments such as construction, shipping and receiving, labouring
- Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and hand tools
- Familiarity with tools and equipment
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products
- Trades Qualification and Forklift Certification are assets
- OFA 2 or OFA 3 are strong assets
- Flexibility; ability to be called in on short notice and work at various campus locations
- Customer service oriented with an emphasis on excellent interpersonal, communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Valid BC driver's license
