You are eligible to live in residence if you have been accepted into a full-time program that is four months duration or longer, or into a short-term/apprenticeship program.
For long-term programs, when you receive your academic acceptance e-mail from BCIT, scroll to the bottom of the e-mail and click on the link "BCIT Student Housing Information and Residence Application Form" to be taken to the online application form. Log in with your BCIT student number and password. If your program starts in September submit your application by June 1st to be considered in the selection process. Residence accommodation is limited and not guaranteed. Preference is given to those from furthest away first.
Maquinna Residence is geared primarily to students in full-time programs that operate from September to May. However vacancies do occur from time to time for students starting programs throughout the year.
If your academic program is less than four months long, or the format is not September to May, contact the Housing Office to discuss your individual needs with a Housing staff member.
The cost of a room at Maquinna Residence in 2012/2013 is $550 per month. This includes free high speed internet and hydro. Unlike other campuses, you are provided with a kitchen so that you can cook your own meals when you like and whatever you crave that day. The only other charges are a one time damage deposit ($150) and a nominal activity fee ($6) per month paid per term which helps to pay for fun activities and events in residence.
The costs are different for students in short-term/apprentice programs.
