overviewThe Fish Harvesting & Processing Technology program was initiated at BCIT in 1988 at the request of the B.C. fishing industry to fulfill the training needs of its members. The program consists of stand-alone short courses generally targeted at the fish harvesting and processing industry and the food processing industry, including manufacturing, importing, testing, and government sectors. The success of BCIT’s Fish Harvesting and Processing Technology program is due to:
Every course or workshop developed by the program is industry-driven. Industry leaders determine the training needs and define course goals, outlines and content as well as learning outcomes and delivery formats. Industry experts validate new training and instruct all courses. This program forms part of BCIT’s Food Technology program, which delivers a 2-year full-time Diploma program and an Associate Certificate as well as numerous Part-time Studies courses. |
CD-ROM tutorials
Food Technology and Safety has developed a series of CD-ROM tutorials for processing plants, can screening warehouses, government and private testing laboratories, facilities purchasing imported product, and can manufacturing plants. This instructional set of three CDs deals with origins of can manufacturing and double seam defects, and how to identify such defects. |
