They’re now enjoying the rewards of hard work, free to travel and pursue personal interests. But for Ian and Alison Hogg, freedom also means responsibility — to the community and to the causes that matter to them. For the Hoggs, that cause is education.
Technology entrepreneur Ian Hogg was so impressed by the BCIT grads he hired over the years that he and his wife Alison wanted to make a lasting contribution towards student support. They considered other post-secondary institutions, but decided that their bequest would have the most impact at BCIT.
“We don’t have children of our own, and leaving our estate to BCIT means we can continue to support future generations,” says Ian Hogg. “Our gift will also help to raise BCIT’s profile as a national leader in applied education. We believe BCIT will be the ‘programming powerhouse’ that meets BC’s information technology needs into the future.”
The Ian and Alison Hogg Endowment will provide achievement-based awards for students in BCIT’s Computing and Academic Studies programs. This endowment is the largest bequest commitment ever dedicated to BCIT.
