BCIT inspires confidence in employers
As the vice president of PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc., I have been involved with BCIT since 2006 when we created the PCL Centennial Industry Training Endowment to reward outstanding students in BCIT's construction trades training programs.
Like many employers who hire BCIT graduates, I value their ability to be immediately productive in the workplace. Thanks to the intense and relevant hands-on training they receive as students, BCIT grads can meet and exceed professional expectations.
For these reasons, BCIT is a major contributor to BC's prosperity by producing more job-ready graduates than any other institute in the province. Demand for our programs and our graduates is growing dramatically.
Over the next ten years, more than one million jobs will be available in British Columbia. Almost half of these openings are due to retirement. The remainder of the openings will be a result of economic growth.
The BCIT Foundation is committed to helping the Institute meet the province's need for more skilled workers. We are grateful to have ongoing support from a generous community of donors that include: industry partners, individuals, alumni, faculty and staff, and even BCIT students.
Your contributions also ensure that we continue to enrich the educational experience at BCIT by providing a flexible learning environment using the most up-to-date industry standard tools.
Every gift comes with a story that has a transformational impact beyond the immediate recipients. I hope that learning more about our donors, students and projects will inspire you to join us in making a difference.
On behalf of BCIT and the BCIT Foundation, thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Anibal R. Valente, P. Eng.
