Thank you for considering a gift to BCIT, or for having supported us in the past. As a donor, you’re shaping the future of BCIT and ensuring our graduates gain the BCIT advantage.

Donor recognition

BCIT appreciates the generosity of donors who make BCIT a priority in their philanthropy. We work with donors to ensure they receive appropriate recognition based on the level of their gift, and their wishes.

Recognition opportunities include:

  • Naming opportunities for buildings, facilities and research centres
  • Naming of scholarships, awards and bursaries
  • Naming of endowed funds in perpetuity
  • Donor recognition walls or plaques, and listings in the annual BCIT Report on Giving (circulation 1,500) and the BCIT Foundation website
  • Invitation to the BCIT Foundation’s annual donor recognition event -- Celebrating the Best
  • Invitation to personally present awards to our most deserving students at our Annual Awards Ceremonies, if applicable
  • Listing in our Awards Ceremonies program, if applicable
  • Editorials in institute publications, media releases, or print advertisements in industry/trade publications.

Tributes and Memorials

Donors can recognize and honour the life of a friend, family member or colleague through tribute and memorial gifts. Tributes can also be established in celebration of a special occasion, or as a gift. Income tax receipts are issued for all donations above $10.

Cash donations can be made in honour or memory of a loved one. The family will receive a personalized card to notify them of the gift.

Named awards, bursaries and scholarships can be established in tribute for $500 or more. The BCIT Foundation works closely with donors to establish awards that are most appropriate for the individual being honoured.

Memorial endowments are a lasting legacy to the memory of a loved one and can be established with a gift of $10,000 or more to fund awards, bursaries, scholarships, specific program needs and/or special campus projects. BCIT may offer a one-time match for a portion of the initial donation.

Campus markers can pay tribute to a colleague, honour a loved one, or celebrate a special occasion. Campus markers, all incorporating an engraved plaque or marker, include:

  • Bicycle racks and lockers for gifts of $1,000
  • Trees for $1,200 donations
  • Park benches for $1,500 gifts
  • Planters for gifts of $2,000
  • Picnic tables, for $2,500 donations.
