Is my contribution tax deductible?

Yes, the BCIT Foundation is a registered Canadian charity and can issue tax receipts for all donations above $10. (Charitable Registration Number/BN: 876776824 RR 0001)

Can I direct my contribution to a specific program?

Yes. You may direct your contribution to one program, or split the amount to provide funds for several different programs. You may also leave your contribution undesignated, to be awarded at the discretion of BCIT’s Student Financial Aid & Awards office. top]

I established a student award. When are awards given out?

Depending on whether you are providing an award for a first or second year student, or a student just entering a program, the award is presented at a formal ceremony in November, February or June. You will receive an invitation to the ceremony and be invited to present your award on stage to the successful student. top]

How are award recipients selected?

Graduating Awards and First Year Scholarships – Recipients are selected from a computer-generated rank list of marks. The top academic student(s) receive the awards.

Graduating or First Year Achievement Awards – Students are nominated by the program faculty based on a combination of leadership, service, marks and all-round achievement. The BCIT Student Financial Aid & Awards Office verifies eligibility.

Bursaries and Entrance Awards – Students must complete an application form available from the BCIT Student Financial Aid & Awards office. top]

Will my employer match my gift to the BCIT Foundation?

Some corporations and businesses have programs to match employee gifts either in whole or in part. In some cases, gifts from spouses, directors and retired employees are matched. We urge you to explore this possibility as it may double or, in some cases, triple your gift. Ask your employer about it.
