Part-time Assistance :: Credit Courses
Important info - all programs
- Application deadline: at least 8 weeks prior to the end of classes.
- Apply early - funding from the government is limited. Attempts are made to assist as many students as possible.
- Submit one application form per term. Your application will be considered for all available part-time assistance programs.
- You must successfully complete all courses funded under BCIT Part-Time Assistance to be eligible for further funding.

Residency
- You must have established a permanent residence in British Columbia.
Citizenship
- You must have been issued a Social Insurance Number AND:
- be a Canadian citizen, or
- be a permanent resident; IMM1000 form or Permanent Resident's card must be verified by your financial aid officer.
- Eligibility is based on financial need as determined by the CSGP-PT income tables.
- Gives a non-repayable grant to take post-secondary level credit courses that are part of an eligible BCIT Certificate, Diploma or Degree (not non-credit, pre-entry or upgrading courses).
- CSGP-PT will pay for tuition and fees costs, required course textbooks and materials, basic school supplies, transportation and assistance towards babysitting costs for class hours.
- NOTE: Some high cost courses are not eligible (e.g., COMP 1045)
- Courses must be for credit.
- The credit courses must be part of an eligible BCIT certificate, diploma or degree. Please check with Student Financial Aid & Awards to find out if the program is eligible for financial assistance.
- You must enrol in a minimum of 3.0 credits.
- You must NOT be enrolled in 60% or more of a full-time course load.
CSGP-PT limit per program year:
- $1,200 per student per program year (defined as August 1 of one year to July 31 of the next year).
- If you have a permanent disability that affects your ability to attend school, you may qualify for a CSGP-PD of up to $2,000 per program year (defined as August 1 of one year to July 31 of the next year). To apply please send documentation, to support this application, from a physician specializing in your disability stating that your disability is permanent and how you are limited in performing the daily activities necessary to participate in studies at a post-secondary level.
CSGP-PD funding limit:
- $2,000 per student per program year (defined as August 1 of one year to July 31 of the next year).
- BCIT will first assess your eligibility for CSGP-PT. If you are not eligible for a grant and you cannot study full-time, you may be eligible for a PT CSL.
- Payment of interest begins 30 days after the loan is cashed. Payment of principal and interest begins six months after the study end date. If your family income is low, you may be eligible for the Interest Relief Plan through your lender.
PT CSL funding limit:
- Your total outstanding principal and interest balance on your PT CSL must not exceed $10,000.
- Students with dependents who have exhausted eligibility for both CSGP-PT and PT CSL and still demonstrate financial need are automatically considered for CSGP-PTDEP by the government at the time their PT CSL application is processed.
CSGP-PTDEP limit per program year:
- Up to $1,920 per student per program year (defined as August 1 of one year to July 31 of the next year).
