You might be entitled for the full-time StudentAidBC only if you meet 60% course load requirements (40% for students with a permanent disability). (Many awards programs such as scholarships may require a higher minimum course load.)
| # of actual weeks* in each term | 60% course load (minimum credits required) |
|---|---|
| 12 to 15 | 12 credits |
| 16 to 19 | 16 credits |
| 20 to 25 | 20 credits |
| 26 to 30 | 26 credits |
| 31 to 38 | 31 credits |
| 39 to 44 | 39 credits |
| 45 to 52 | 45 credits |
*Actual weeks means the period spanning the calendar week in which the first class begins to the calendar week during which final exams occur.
If you're currently on government student assistance and are considering exempting, transferring or dropping a course, don't take a chance that your course load will drop below the required minimum and it could cause a withdrawal and overaward.
Contact us first to discuss your plans and we can advise you whether or not your eligibility would be affected.
If you are undertaking full-time study by combining a number of BCIT courses in Part-time Studies, you must ask us in BCIT Student Financial Aid and Awards to complete an Appendix 3 that you can attach to your completed StudentAid BC application form. To initiate this process, submit a fully completed Specific Course Completion Contract [PDF, 106 KB] to our office.
