work experience
At BCIT, John Keith has been teaching technical writing and oral communication for Professional English Language Development (PELD) since 2001, and he has also taught Technical Presentations for the departments of Construction Management and Environmental Engineering in their Bachelor of Technology Programs, and Technical Proposals for Environmental Engineering. John has developed numerous courses at BCIT, including Oral Fluency for Business and Technical Communication, Oral Fluency for Health Sciences, Advanced Oral Fluency Techniques, and Oral Communication Skills for Med Lab; all use an important component of on-line resources delivered through Blackboard/WebCT. John believes that computer technology and the Internet have important implications in language learning, especially, of course, for the skills of listening and speaking. He has learned HTML coding from the ground up and now uses JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets in his development of listening and pronunciation practice exercises for the web.
