Quality service standards

Counselling and Student Development's professional counsellors are dedicated to providing excellence in personal, career, and student success counselling. Our counsellors are registered with the BC College of Psychologists, the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and practice in accordance with those organizations' ethical standards and codes of conduct, which include commitments to competency, integrity, respect, and confidentiality.

We will:
Excellence Provide exemplary services to students that honour our professional standards.
Timelines Perform efficiently to meet or exceed our responsiveness commitments.
Communications Accurately communicate all necessary, relevant, and pertinent information, according to professional standards.
Responsiveness Respond within one business day to telephone, email, and facsimile inquiries.

Offer general counselling appointments within two business days during non-peak times, and within seven business days during peak times.

Offer urgent/quick response counselling appointments within 24 hours.

Respond to crisis and critical incidents, as needed, based on a triage model.
Accessibility Provide options for obtaining information about our services, including website, telephone, and in person.
Commitment Provide exemplary counselling and student development services to BCIT students.
