power and process engineeringThis program provides sound practical and technical knowledge and skills to persons who wish to advance to the highest levels in the field of power engineering. After completing the program and working during the summer between their first and second years, graduates are prepared to write the BC Safety Authority examinations for an inter-provincial Third Class Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency The program is divided into two levels. Classroom activity consists of lectures, demonstrations, audiovisual presentations and exercises which provide practical working knowledge of power engineering. Plant tours, engineering practicums, workshops, power plant laboratory and troubleshooting exercises are also included in the program to reinforce theoretical concepts, develop manual skills, and a familiarity with additional power engineering techniques.
