Pre-entry & Upgrading
At BCIT, most of the programs in the Engineering, Health and Computer Systems Technologies have an entry requirement of Math 11 or Math 12 levels. (Please check with your individual program as to their requirement)
In the event that you are unable to meet the mathematics requirement there are several options that you can pursue here at BCIT:
- Competency Testing: If you feel that your math skills are fine but lack any documentation, the math department offer a Competency Test. This is of particular use if your math education was not in Canada and it is difficult to obtain documentation. The test is also a good choice if your math education was not recent but you have remained competent in it.
- Upgrading and Refresher Courses: If you do not meet the math requirements or feel that you are in need of a refresher then the BCIT Math department offers a number of Part Time Studies and Distance Education Courses which have been designed to meet the Math requirements for entry into BCIT.
Note: For BCIT business programs, please directly contact the Operations Management Department in the School of Business who offer a math upgrading course - OPMT 0199. - which you should take instead.
